Not only are 40B residential developments a challenge for developers, but they are also a particular challenge for town agencies. The laudable requirements of affordable housing legislation can be uniquely complex when working within historic districts. Our team worked hand-in-hand with the numerous Middleborough boards that outlined its goals to blend 44 apartment units into the Victorian fabric of South Main Street. Guiding the project’s development objectives, massing concerns, traffic patterns and aesthetic preferences is a process of meshing seemingly dissimilar interests towards common ground. The results are a shared appreciation for the opinions and desires of all invested parties.
